Seeing Pink at Mattie’s

Wood tone preferences roll on the waves of design capriciousness just like any other trend. Ten years ago, you couldn’t open a design magazine without seeing walnut; before that, we were all about maple kitchens. These days, it’s white oak (though I think we’re starting to see a turn toward the warmer neutral woods, like fir). But for me, cherry is the steadfast queen when you’re looking for something special—especially when paired with a barely-kissed pink wall and a rush of soft light.
